India Finally Legalizes Gay Sex

India scrapped a colonial-era ban on gay sex in a new landmark Supreme Court ruling. Gay sex is considered taboo by many in socially conservative India, and had previously been punishable by up to 10 years in jail. But a five-judge bench in India’s Supreme Court was unanimous in overturning the ban recently.

The bigoted law held that sex between members of the same sex was “against the order of nature.” Five petitioners challenged the law on the grounds that it was discriminatory since it unfairly prosecutes consenting adults. “Any consensual sexual relationship between two consenting adults – homosexuals, heterosexuals or lesbians – cannot be said to be unconstitutional,” said the Chief Justice of India as he read out the judgement to cheering citizens. Congrats, India: at last, love wins!

It seems men in the US think women are having a lot of sex, with a lot of people. According to a new survey, men think women aged 18 to 29 have sex nearly four times as much as they actually do. Men guessed that women had sex 23 times in a month, but the actual number was an average of 5 to 6 times.

Women were slightly more accurate, guessing that women had sex an average of 12 times a month — but that was still double the reality. In general, everyone thinks everyone else is having lots of great sex, with lots and lots of people, but that isn’t accurate. Researchers believe these exaggerated perceptions could have to do with the unrealistic depictions of sex people see in porn: “It’s not shocking to me, but what it does tell me is we have a lot more work to do.” Cheers to real sex!

According to a survey that asked 1,000 women about spicing up sex when trying to have a baby, three-quarters said they changed their lifestyle or sexual behavior when trying to conceive.“The key is that they are still having regular sex and they are enjoying it, rather than seeing it as a chore,” an expert explains. Researchers say that the most important thing for couples to remember is: “Relax, stay positive, and enjoy all of the sex.”

Don’t Reuse Your Condoms, The CDC Warns

Condoms are a great way to practice safe sex—when used correctly. Apparently, that doesn’t always happen, according to the CDC (the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Recently, they issued a warning on Twitter, saying: “We say it because people do it: Don’t wash or reuse condoms! Use a fresh one for each sex act.”

The CDC added, “Incorrect use, such as reusing a condom or using more than one at a time, diminishes the protective effect of condoms by leading to condom breakage, slippage, or leakage.” Of course, some Twitter users’ responses were pretty great: “Hold on babe, let me just grab one off the clothes line…” Another tweet said, “Well, what the hell am I supposed to do with all these condoms in the dishwasher now?” Condoms are a single-use item (duh): “Let’s say you have sex three times in one night — you should be changing the condom three times or before the next sex act,” says the CDC.

The candidate claims his “accounts were hacked and he no longer has access so can’t take photo down.” He also said his wife had his passwords and was sabotaging him. The disgraced candidate has since been arrested, and his campaign website has been deleted. Not the sexiest way to run for office…

Catholic Church Says Virgins Can Now Have Sex

While it might sound like a pretty funny SNL sketch, the Catholic Church is completely serious about its new announcement that virginity is no longer a prerequisite for consecration. Lifelong “consecrated” virgins are understandably furious, having gone their whole lives without sex only to have the rules changed halfway through the game. The shocking ruling comes in the form of a new 39-page document published by the Vatican, saying actual virginity is not essential for a woman to become a consecrated virgin, because “spousal and fruitful love for Christ is not reducible to the symbol of physical integrity.”

In the Catholic Church, there are about 5,000 consecrated virgins, or women who have been consecrated by the church to a life of perpetual virginity in the service of God. The NY Post explains, “Unlike nuns, they do not live in enclosed communities or wear special clothing—most of them are integrated within the normal world and have regular jobs.” In a statement, the US Association of Consecrated Virgins called the document “deeply disappointing”—but perhaps they’ll feel differently once they finally start having sex?
