The hottest new dating trend has women using their own love juices to attract sexual partners. Supposedly, the modern-day love potion will attract potential partners due to the pheromones present—or at least that’s what hordes of women who “vab” believe. On TikTok, #vabbing has garnered nearly 682,000 views, many featuring clips of women experimenting with the makeshift perfume.

“I swear, if you vab, you will attract people, like a date, a one-night stand or you’ll just get free drinks all night,” one TikToker said in a clip with 1.4 million views. “Proceed with caution—because it works,” she continued in the clip, adding that she learned the method from the podcast “Secret Keepers Club” hosted by comedians Carly Aquilino and Emma Willmann. The idea behind vabbing is that vaginal fluids contain pheromones, which make you more attractive to potential partners—although there is a lack of official studies of how the smells work in human sexual activity.

Researchers involved in the study of 224 men and women found that men who try too hard are a turn-off to women. Women, on the other hand, tend to act more interested when they’re attracted to someone: “We think this may be to keep the man’s attention a little longer,” researchers explain.

Not surprisingly, the study suggests flirting is a tactical game, with each person deciphering the other’s intentions—which goes against stereotypes that men strut their stuff while women act coy. Instead, both sexes act more reserved once they are sure they like someone. “In economic terms it’s about supply and demand. The most in-demand people are not the most available – they are a rare commodity in the mating game,” say researchers.
