PR&#8217;s health department quickly scrapped the &#8220;offensive&#8221; safe sex campaign which promoted masturbation as a way to avoid becoming infected with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/index.html\">COVID-19<\/a>. The Departmento de Salud&#8217;s poster used a suggestive image of a thumb pressed into a grapefruit and drew scorn from the island&#8217;s conservative Catholic population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campaign&#8217;s health officials, which also advised people to wash their hands and their sex toys, was swiftly taken down because the &#8220;graphic&#8221; grapefruit image was in &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-8889251\/Puerto-Rico-scraps-offensive-pandemic-safe-sex-campaign-promoting-masturbation-avoid-Covid.html\">poor taste<\/a>.&#8221; &#8220;Although our only intention is to educate and prevent, the publication was offensive to some sectors of the population,&#8221; the department said in a statement, explaining it didn&#8217;t want the message to be lost by distractions. A health expert added: &#8220;It seems they didn&#8217;t anticipate there was going to be this backlash when Puerto Rico is truly very conservative regarding these issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking for safe sex?
