Reality: A critical view of adult media.\u201d In her 90-minute lecture she \u201ctouched on everything from female empowerment, to the necessity of consent, to the importance of differentiating porn from reality,\u201d\u00a0according to\u00a0the\u00a0La Crosse Tribune<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But it seems not everyone was a fan of her speech\u2014in particular, anti-porn crusaders who contacted conservative media outlets to turn the lecture into a tawdry sex scandal. Before long word spread that the chancellor of the university had given the porn star $5,000 for a \u201csecret\u201d sex talk. The outcry got so heated that the chancellor penned an op-ed<\/a> to explain his decision to fund the talk, before agreeing to \u201cpersonally compensate the university for Hartley\u2019s $5,000 appearance fee.\u201d<\/p>\n
