Hi, everyone! I’m Nicole! I’m a 29-year old female, makeup artist/hair stylist based just outside New York City.

Even though I’m very open-minded and sex positive, I still can’t believe that I’m signing up here. I’ve thought about this for a while and decided to finally take the plunge. In my personal life, guys have often asked me what I like to do sexually. The question occasionally stumps me. I mean, I love to have sex with men I’m attracted to, but that’s sort of generic. It’s like, “What food do you like?” “Food that tastes good.” It’s not particularly helpful. So investigating that question is something that I often think about. What *do* I like?

Something that has offered me some clarity in that regard comes from an unlikely place: me doing makeup for a local drag show. I got my start in makeup working for editorial photo shoots and weddings (I think everyone starts off with weddings). I have always looked at makeup as art for one’s body that highlights people's best features. When you get the makeup right, it truly enhances the person’s confidence. And I do like that I can do that for people. With the drag performers though, I’m asked to do something different: I’m asked to make them more feminine. There’s a lot of contouring, hair removal and color correcting in the event of a five o’clock shadow, as well as a variety of other things.

I enjoy doing this, but the part that I’ve started to realize I like is being in full control of the other person’s look. I don’t know a ton about Russian politics or the effects of climate change on the outlying islands of Guam, but I do know about makeup and when people push back against my plan or my execution of the plan, I need to draw the line. I am going to be honest and not sugar coat my opinion. I'd estimate that 9 times out of 10, the person will apologize for questioning my motives and appreciate what work I’ve done… and that is what has helped me better understand my own sexual desires. I derive a distinct tingle from that.

Lately, I’ve been helping the drag performers with their wardrobes when they don’t have stylists. And that’s been fun too. After a full day of that, I generally go home, grab my vibrator and relish in the feelings that I experienced. There is something so primal about working with someone to change them and being the architect. I do enjoy other things too, obviously, but that is a recent discovery that I was interested in pursuing more to see where things could go!
